Adult protection litigation
The protection of persons who cannot make decisions for themselves is paramount. With the introduction of the Lasting Powers of Attorney, you are guaranteed greater protection; for example:
- The Lasting Power of Attorney must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian before it can be used;
- Certificate providers must confirm that you understand the nature of the Lasting Power of Attorney when you sign it.
- You can nominate people to be notified when the LPA is registered
- You or others can request an investigation of the decisions made on your behalf if you feel that they are not in your best interests.
